Below are the some of the questions that we are most frequently asked along with what we hope are useful answers. If the particular question you have is not answered here then please call us or email us and we'll be more than happy to help.

What services do you help with?

Havant Homecare offer several different services including, assistance with personal care, continence care, including catheter and stoma care. Medication support, nutrition and hydration needs, domestic duties, respite breaks, well-being checks, end of life support, short term care, companionship and inclusion, dementia care and accessing the community. If you would like to discuss our services, one of our friendly team would be happy to help and advise.

How is a care package set up?

If you are considering care for yourself or for a loved one, you can contact us via telephone, email or through our website, one of our friendly team would be happy to answer any initial questions you have. A free assessment would be booked in, on your preferred day and time. On the day of the assessment we will leave you with all the information and there is no obligation to make any decisions during our visit and you can contact us when you are ready. You can leave the rest to us! We will set your care package up and agree a start date which is convenient for you.

How long does the process take?

Once the initial assessment has been completed and you have informed us you would like to proceed, we will agree a start date which is convenient for you. Each person has different care requirements and therefore differing time spans are required to set up each care package. We have set up a care package in extenuating circumstances on the same day of enquiry but also a few days after the assessment. We will discuss this with you during the initial assessment.

How many care workers will be introduced?

Your first care worker will be introduced by the team member who completes your assessment. It will depend on how many visits you have, to how many care workers you will meet. We offer continuity of care and will introduce you to a small team of care workers, who you will see on a regular basis. This allows you to build trusting, professional relationships with your team. All your team members will be introduced to you before they complete your care alone.

Are you flexible with your service?

We understand that people’s needs can change, sometimes unexpectedly, therefore we do everything we can to remain flexible and adapt to any changes you may require. Including, adapting or changing call times, increasing care packages, change your care requirements as and when your needs change, communicate and liaise with other health care professionals who are involved in your care so we can continue to meet your needs or the needs of your loved one safely.

Can we cancel visits or end care services?

Yes, this is your care package tailored to your needs. We work closely with other professionals and with family and fully understand that there are others involved in your life and times that you may not need us, visits around these times can be cancelled or the package ended if necessary. If you would like to cancel a visit, please contact us or let one of your care workers no and we will cancel the visit. If you would like to end care services, please let us know in advance and we can assist you.

How will you know if a care worker has arrived?

We use an electronic monitoring system; your care worker will log in and out of your visits and these can be monitored by the management team. Your care workers will make factual and accurate records relating to the activities they support you with. The electronic monitoring system will alert management if a care worker has not logged in, this ensures the safety of our customers and care workers is always maintained.

Are the care workers trained?

All our care workers are DBS checked before joining the team. They have an induction with the company and complete mandatory training. Care staff complete ongoing training programmes throughout their career to continually develop their knowledge and skills. All staff members are provided with on-going support throughout their career journey. We have an in house Moving and Handling trainer, Dementia champion and Infection control lead and use a blended learning approach for our team.

How much will care cost?

Each care package is tailored to the individual. Care packages vary in accordance with needs, no two care packages are the same as we are all unique with differing needs and abilities. Once we have established and agreed on the perfect care package for you, we will be able to provide you with an accurate cost. Charge rates start from £29.00.

Is there anything that you cannot do?

Home care providers are not able to support with injectable medications, bandage and or dressing changes (wound care), cutting toenails or fingernails (filing is acceptable), cutting hair, PEG feeding, insertion of catheters. These tasks are clinical and would require a clinically trained individual such as a district nurse, GP, podiatrist to complete. We are able to communicate and liaise with these health care professionals to support you if required.

Once my care starts how do I contact you?

Our office is open 9-5   Monday to Friday, outside of these times we operate an on-call system between the hours of 08:00-22:00pm. You can communicate with us in several different ways, including telephone, email, message platforms. You will be given a folder containing all the information you need to contact us.
